Shri Debaditya Chakraborty, a young sitar virtuoso from the prestigious "Senia-Maihar" Gharana, cultivated his musical passion from a tender age under the tutelage of Prof. Lovely Sharma (Former Vice Chancellor and Sitarist) and his father a world renowned classical Guitar maestro and Guru Prof. (Pt.) Debasis Chakraborty. He currently studies under the renowned Sitar and zitar maestro, Sri Niladri Kumar. His training extends to a distinguished lineage of maestros including Late Pt. Brij Bhushan Kabra (Indian classical guitar), Late Padmashree Pt. Bhajan Sopori (santoor), and Ustad Alam Khan (son of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan), amongst others. This diverse training has enabled him to master various styles and techniques.
Shri Chakraborty’s performances blend traditional and modern approaches. His playing incorporates the ancient Gayaki and Tantrakari styles, showcasing the intricate patterns of the Surbahar and Veena, while seamlessly integrating modern chord progressions and harmonic elements.
